I am a Consultant Surgeon in emergency, trauma, and upper gastrointestinal (UGI) surgery at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Singapore, providing elective and emergency general surgical and upper GI care to a high-acuity tertiary population. I am experienced in both upper and lower GI endoscopy, including diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and have performed more than 2,000 surgical cases across the full range of elective and emergency general and upper GI procedures.
I completed my specialist training in General and Upper GI Surgery in the London Deanery, gaining my CCT in 2020, and hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. I undertook two post-CCT fellowships: one in trauma and emergency surgery at Vancouver General Hospital, Canada, and Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town, and one in oesophago-gastric and bariatric surgery at University Hospital Coventry. I then held my first consultant post in general and upper GI surgery at University Hospital Galway, Ireland, before moving to Singapore in late 2025.
Alongside clinical practice, I have a longstanding interest in surgical education and leadership. I am an ATLS instructor trained in simulation-based teaching, a long-time faculty member of the ‘START Surgery’ course run by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and I was awarded a prize for my contribution to undergraduate education. I hold an MBA (Merit) from Warwick Business School and an MSc in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine from the University of Bristol, and was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travelling Fellowship to research applications of telemedicine.
I have published widely in peer-reviewed surgical journals, and continue to write — producing original medical content and ghostwriting for healthcare businesses, and, under a pen name, medical humanities and popular science articles.
Outside of medicine, I write fiction — a novel, a novella, and several short stories — and was previously a music journalist.
